To protect the roof from the water damage from the wet sod, coat a waterproof paint over it. Let the roof dry for at least 24 hours.

Furthermore, place the pond liner on the roof surface so as to cover the complete roof. Make use of the staple gun to secure it on the roof.

Spread the potting soil over the roof in an even manner. At least, one inch of the soil should be laid down. Over it put one inch gravel to provide drainage. In like manner again spread the potting soil.
